RCP is thrilled to have Mike Lanza, father of three boys ages 14,11, and 9, be their speaking guest at the latest installment of their speaker series. Mike has worked hard to create a rich neighborhood play life for his sons in Menlo Park, CA.
He has discovered and written about dozens of neighborhoods throughout North America that are doing innovative things to make a vibrant life for kids. Prior to writing Playborhood, Mike was a five-time software and internet entrepreneur in Silicon Valley and us currently working on his sixth software startup, a company called Streetography. He holds an MA in Education, an MBA, and an MA and BA in Economics, all from Stanford University.
The discussion will center on Neighborhood Play: Practice and Results. Mike will discuss his vibrant child-welcoming hangout in his yard, and offer valuable insight into creating accessible and inspiring spaces at our homes, and within our neighborhoods. Providing children a space to play and explore has been lacking in some neighborhoods, and families have been asking what they can do to infuse more play outdoors and with their communities.
